On March 19th, Dr. Han Gang from Tianjin Medical University visited TMBJ and delivered an inspiring lecture titled "Research on Targeted Therapy Research for Muscle Diseases."
Dr. Han shared his research team's pioneering targeted treatment methods for the fatal muscle disease Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Addressing the limited efficacy of currently approved nucleic acid drugs in DMD treatment, his team developed a series of muscle-targeted delivery systems based on nanobodies, exosomes, natural small molecules, and others. This achieved efficient delivery of nucleic acid drugs into muscles, enhanced the activity of these drugs, and thereby improved their effectiveness in treating muscle diseases.
Dr. Han's presentation showcased a new direction in targeted therapy. He engaged in in-depth academic exchanges with students and researchers from TMBJ regarding drug delivery methods for muscle diseases. The TMBJ looks forward to collaborating further with Dr. Han on pioneering scientific research in the future.
After completing the lecture, he was invited to visit our laboratories and engage in scientific discussions with all members of our research group.
This event was supported by the K. C. Wong Education Foundation – HKBU Fellowship Programme for Mainland China Visiting Scholars.
