A collaborative research done by Research assistant professor Li Defang and PhD student Liu Jin in TMBJ was published in “Nature Communications” (Impact factor 11.470). The work entitled “Osteoclast-derived exosomal miR-214-3p inhibits osteoblastic bone formation” demonstrated that the decreased bone formation has a close relation with osteoblastic activity and the osteoclast-secreted exosomal miR-214-3p in the elderly women with osteoporosis. This study not only provides a new idea for the pathogenesis of osteoporosis induced by aged-related bone loss in elderly women, but also supplies a novel strategy and new target for osteoporosis treatment.
